Coaching Clinic Online - July 24, 2021
The trade union partner at PT Ricky Garmen Exportindo (PT. RGE) submitted a request for a coaching clinic. This is done due to the urgency of PT. RGE to advocate changes of their extended Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). In response to this request, another coaching clinic was held on July 24, 2021 for the draft CBA’s of PT Ricky Garmen Exportindo.
There are six topics that are proposed to be changed in their extended CBA, namely clauses on annual leave or rest period, union membership, maternity leave, overtime work, permission to leave work with wages, and shift allowances. In the Problem Inventory List (where trade unions list their issues to advocate), the trade union of PT. RGE discussed with the Data Academy team on what arguments and data that need to be delivered.
One of the proposed changes is adding a paragraph extra fooding for workers who work overtime. Even though the company has actually implemented this provision, in order to be clearer, the trade union submitted a proposal which stipulates: "workers who work overtime for more than 3 hours are entitled to additional calories in the form of snacks of at least 1,400 calories"
In its CBA draft, the trade union also changed the maternity leave section. They advocate for longer maternity leave for women workers, as the Estimated Birth Day (HPL) for every woman is not always correct. The paragraph reads as "For female workers, both PKWT or PKWTT who want to give birth, they are entitled to maternity leave for 7 weeks before giving birth, and 7 weeks after giving birth with full wages"
At the end of the coaching clinic session, representatives PT. RGE appreciated the discussion and advice during the coaching clinic. She admits that working with Problem Inventory List, which is equipped with arguments and supporting information related to the applicable legal basis, is very useful and makes it easier for the trade union to negotiate with management which will happen in the near future. It is hoped that these negotiations can run conducive and have a mutually beneficial meeting point for both parties.
